Tropical Storm Noel pummeled the Dominican Republic on Sunday, October 28, causing flooding and landslides.

Women and children scream for help, struggling to escape flash floods.  They cry out in horror as their loved ones are swept away in mudslides and drown.  Grief-stricken families watch their houses crumble, and stare at the muddy lakes that used to be their crops.

The storm displaced 51,000 people, caused over 50 deaths and countless injuries, and ruined crops and roads.  At least three dams are close to over-flowing or breaking.  The President of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernandez, has declared a state of emergency.

Thousands of families are without shelter, food or clean water.  To make matters worse, these deadly floods contaminate the water and greatly increase chances of diarrhea and water-borne diseases.  Children and the elderly are the most vulnerable.

WER needs your support to launch IMMEDIATE aid relief!

World Emergency Relief has already sent a 40-foot container of food, blankets and emergency supplies to the Dominican Republic.  WER desires to send additional shipments of food, emergency supplies and building supplies to help families rebuild their homes.  These supplies could literally save hundreds of people from illness and despair.
