World Emergency Relief (WER) starts with one project in Haiti: $300,000 total bottom line.

1988

WER functions out of the basement of Joel's home in Glendale, CA. First time gifts-in-kind was sent overseas, medicine shipped to Haiti.

1991

WER joins 4 other U.S. NGOs in task force to develop globasl best practices for commodity humanitarian aid (AERDO Standards).

WER started Native American Emergency Relief (NAER) as its primary U.S. outreach.

1992

WER opens first international office in France.
AERDO Standards adopted by Combined Federal Campaign (2,000 orgs).

1994

WER is incorporated in the United Kingdom.

1995

WER is incorporated in Holland as Wereld Nood Hulp.

1998

WER is incorporated in Hong Kong and in Germany as Nothifle Weltweit, e.V.

2001

WER is re-incorporated in France as Secour d'Urgence.

WER is listed on the top 400 largest charities in the U.S. (Chronicles of Philanthropy).

WER is listed on the top 300 largest charities in the U.S.
